Sheldon E. Steinbach Senior Counsel

Washington, DC

Mr. Steinbach is a Senior Counsel in the firm's Postsecondary Education practice. Prior to joining Dow Lohnes, Mr. Steinbach served for 37 years as the Vice President and General Counsel for the American Council on Education, which represents over 1800 colleges and universities.

Mr. Steinbach has written and lectured extensively on legislative, regulatory and legal issues impacting higher education including: labor relations, affirmative action, athletics, non-profit tax matters, intellectual property and a broad range of student affairs issues. He has served on the board of three private colleges and is a member of the National Panel of the American Arbitration Association. He currently serves on the Maryland Higher Education Labor Relations Board and the Board of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
