Health Benefits for Non-Exempt and Exempt Staff
Health insurance includes a choice of three medical options under UniCare: 2 PPO options and an EPO option. There are also three dental options and an optional vision plan. Health insurance begins on the first day of the month following employment.
Disability Benefits
Non-Exempt Staff: Non-exempt employees accrue paid short-term disability leave (STD) as follows: one year of service - two weeks STD, two years of service - three weeks STD, three years of service - five weeks STD, four years of service - six weeks STD, and five years of service - eight weeks STD. Employees are covered for long-term disability on their first day of hire; benefits are effective 6 months following the onset of a qualifying illness/accident.
Exempt Staff: Exempt employees with less than five years of service are entitled to eight weeks of short-term disability leave at full pay. Exempt employees with more than five years of service are entitled to ten weeks of short-term disability leave. Employees are covered for long-term disability on their first day of hire; benefits are effective 6 months following the onset of a qualifying illness/accident.
Employee Assistance Program for Non-Exempt and Exempt Staff
This program is available to all staff and their immediate family and is paid by the firm. The program provides problem assessment, short-term counseling and referral services for emotional problems, family and marital problems, alcoholism and substance abuse, financial problems, etc.
Retirement Benefits for Non-Exempt and Exempt Staff
Employees who are 21 years or older are eligible to participate in the firm's retirement plan. Employees can elect to have a portion of their salary contributed to a 401(k) Plan. The 401(k) plan, which is supplemental to the firm's Profit Sharing Plan, can be joined immediately and we do accept 401(k) rollovers. Employer contributions to the Plan are made over a period of time once eligible participants have worked one year and completed over 1000 hours of service. An employee will be 20% vested on the last day of the Plan year, December 31, after two years of employment, and 100% vested in the employer contributions to the Plan after three years.
Leave
Non-Exempt Staff: Fifteen days of vacation are accrued during each of the first two years of employment, seventeen days during each of the next three years, and twenty days each year after five years of service. There are twelve sick days per year. Dow Lohnes employees are paid for nine calendar holidays, and one floating holiday taken at the discretion of the employee. Additional floating holidays are provided based on tenure.

Transportation
Non-Exempt Staff: The firm offers a pre-tax parking or a pre-tax mass transit benefit to all full-time and part-time staff. This benefit allows employees to pay for qualified parking or mass transit expenses with pre-tax payroll deductions.
Exempt Staff: Transportation subsidies, in the form of partial monthly parking coverage or Metrochek, are provided to all exempt staff.
Child Care for Non-Exempt and Exempt Staff
The firm has an arrangement with White House Nannies, an in-home back-up provider resource which provides subsidized child care services at times when working parents are confronted with an emergency.
ConSern (Loans for Education) for Non-Exempt and Exempt Staff
By special arrangement, after one year of service with the firm you are eligible to apply for a loan to help you meet the costs of education for yourself, your spouse, or your children for undergraduate, graduate, professional or private secondary school.
Tuition Reimbursement
Non-Exempt Staff: All non-exempt employees who have been successfully employed at Dow Lohnes for at least one year are eligible for the tuition reimbursement program. Reimbursement may be made up to 100% of tuition expenses based on grade achieved. There is an annual cap of $3,000.
Exempt Staff: All exempt employees are immediately eligible for the tuition reimbursement program. Reimbursement may be made up to 100% of tuition expenses based on grade achieved. There is an annual cap of $3,000.
Long Term Care for Non-Exempt and Exempt Staff
This insurance is made available for purchase by employees.
