Copyeditor - Legal Marketing and Communications

Dow Lohnes PLLC, is seeking a Copyeditor – Legal and Marketing Communications to join the Business Development department in the Washington, DC office. This individual is responsible for assisting with the drafting and editing of a bi-annual legal text on Internet law, in addition to managing the drafting, editing and maintenance of the firm’s collateral material and website content (including, for example, practice group descriptions, attorney biographies, representative matter and experience lists, and other information required for presentations, pitches, RFPs and general business development purposes). The Copyeditor will also work closely with the firm’s PR agency to assist with the drafting of press releases, facilitate the placement of articles, identify appropriate speaking opportunities, and manage the firm’s various directory and awards submissions.

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated strong organization and communication skills, including legal writing and editing, creative problem solver and ability to work in a fast paced environment. 3-5 years experience preferred, prior legal writing experience required. Bachelors degree in English or Journalism and Juris Doctorate degree preferred. This is a full time, exempt position requiring flexibility for overtime hours as needed. EOE

DLGS - Legislative Aide

Dow Lohnes Government Relations is looking for a Legislative Aide to assist our CEO, President and other DLGS professional staff.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:  maintaining all aspects of the Firm's Political Action Committee; assisting with required government filings and reports; maintaining the calendar of hearing schedules; coordinating fundraising events; researching and tracking draft and pending legislation; and maintaining and updating all legislative files.

Candidate must have knowledge of firm software; excellent proofreading skills are a must.  Candidate must also be attentive to details, have the ability to work effectively as a team member, possess strong communication, organization and research skills, and must be able to work independently and be willing to travel to local libraries, courts and agencies when required.

Bachelors degree with a strong GPA required.  Prior experience and familiarity with the legislative process is preferred. EOE
