Dow Lohnes provides patent counsel to clients in a variety of areas. We provide analyses and opinions regarding the products and activities of our clients in view of issued patents and published patent applications, including the strengths and weaknesses of such patents and applications. We also provide analyses and opinions regarding the products and activities of third parties suspected of infringing our clients' patent rights.

We work with our clients to protect and enforce their patent rights. We also defend our clients against accusations of patent infringement. We have significant experience before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, federal district courts and the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences.

Our strong client relationships and industry knowledge allows us to staff our Litigation team with both Litigators and Patent professionals.  Our clients appreciate that this approach is the most efficient because it takes full advantage of the expertise of each lawyer.  These same strong client relationships and industry knowledge help us work with our clients regarding design-arounds, where appropriate, to help avoid potential patent infringement problems.

We work closely with our clients to help develop patent programs and identify potentially valuable patentable inventions.  We also help our clients license their patented technology as well as obtain licenses to patented technology. We also work with our clients to provide strategic counseling on a variety of patent issues, including issues relating to existing or proposed industry standards.
